Car Boot Opening Pranks

After our trip to Ipswich Rovers, Darren left his boot up while pulling away, so gave inspiration to the car following him, to open up his boot at the next set of traffic lights. It's difficult to see, but Darren's face was a picture!

The good old days - with The Kid

Halesworth Reserves 2 (Waters, Mann) v 1 (Parry) Peasonhall United Reserves

It was back in December 2006, the reserves entertained Peasonhall Reserves up Dairy Hill in what was a tight faught game.

Ex-Halesworth winger Ben Parry put Peasonhall 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go with a lob which seemed to have won the game for the away side.

Back came Halesworth though, first, substitute Phillip "Nutman" Waters headed in from a Stuart Campbell to spark of a resurgence in the side, and with minutes remaining, Mr Halesworth, Darren Mann was picked out, once again by Stuart Campbell, to head home the winner.

Darren has regularly since been playing for the reserves, as well as getting stints with the first team. Reserve manager Nick Jermy has made Darren his captain this season in an attempt to keep him in the reserves, rather than see him lost to the first team.

Also in this photo is Dean Page, who seemed to have taken early retirement in 2007, only to see a come back this season to rejoin his old teamates.

The Kid's look at the world of football - Amateur nets world's fastest goal

Some inspiration for us all - maybe this weekend we could all give it a go?? I dare either the first team or reserves to try and out do this time.

Amateur nets world's fastest goal

An amateur footballer has netted the world's fastest goal straight from kick-off - in just two seconds. Marc Burrows was playing for Cowes reserves in the Sydenham's Wessex League when he struck. The Daily Mirror reports the striker tried his luck from the halfway line, and a strong gust of wind carried the ball over the opposition keeper. The referee timed the goal at two seconds. The current world record is 2.8 seconds and Guinness are now checking Marc's claim. The 25-year-old went on to score a hat-trick as his side beat Eastleigh reserves 5-3. He said: "The goal surprised everyone. I thought I'd have a go because the wind was so strong. "I was so stumped to see it sail over their keeper I didn't really celebrate. I just burst out laughing. I've tried it before but the ball normally goes for a throw in and I feel like a right prat." Referee John Sorrell said: "It was a great strike, better than Beckham's when he scored from halfway against Wimbledon. I timed it at two seconds. I don't think you could score faster."

Halesworth Midfield Maestro Marries

Halesworth centre midfielder married in north norfolk just before Christmas of 2009.

The lovely setting, which was snow covered, made a wonderful venue.

The Kid, and all at Halesworth, wish Adam and his new wife Tor all the best for their future together

The Kid this week takes a look at football from around the globe on the world wide web:

A British amateur footballer has become the youngest-ever international football manager - after taking charge of the world's worst team. Paul Watson, 25, is the coach of the tiny Pacific island of Pohnpei, which has a population of just 34,000, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Their national football team has never won a game and the closest they have ever come to victory was losing 5-4 on penalties to rival island Yap.

However, despite a recent 16-1 thrashing at the hands of Guam, sports writer Paul and his student friend Matthew Conrad, also 25, believe they can turn things around.

The pair, from London, will begin training the Pohnpei team for no pay starting September 17 and friendly games are scheduled to take place in early 2010.

Mr Watson, a freelance sports journalist, said: "By chance we heard the country didn't have a coach at the moment and were looking for someone to take over. Like idiots we said we would consider it.

"Their players have a lot of raw talent but they have never won a game, they lost on penalties once so I guess that almost counts as a win.
"Unfortunately they are the worst team in the world but I don't think they will be for much longer. With training they'll improve dramatically.

"They are really enthusiastic and one of the players who walks one hour and a half just to get to training without wearing any shoes.

"That's why we are so keen to help them out and why we are appealing for sponsors to donate shoes and kit."

*The Kid would like to express that he did not in anyway decided to post this with any intent to say this has any correlation with Nick Jermy and Eli Earl taking up the reserve team managers job...

Club Captain Marries

So the season comes to a close, and club captain Matthew Jermy gets a chance to fit in some other duties. He got married to Elaine on the 13th June. Now that's done and dusted, he will now surely focus back on the challenge of competing in the 1st division. The Kid and all at HTFC wish Matt and Elaine all the happiness in the world:

The kid was fortunate to have some photographs of the special day, which included a lovely shot of the trendy centre back Joe Allen, check out his fashion attire.
